What an incredible night for the South Northants Labour!
Our Parliamentary Candidate, Sophie Johnson has sent in the following message:
“Members of the CLP were at the count all night to watch democracy taking place. The votes were sorted and counted under our watchful eyes.
We are delighted to announce that we have increased our share of the vote from 16% in 2015 to 27%.
Just imagine what we can achieve next time! This is the result of a really strong team effort, where we all got together and played to our individual strengths.
We’ve got an excellent foundation to build from now and we will keep getting out there and having those all important conversations with residents. It’s by listening to constituents that we can change things for the better for South Northants. Thank you to everyone who has supported us, and the 17, 759 people who turned out to vote Labour yesterday. From the bottom of our hearts. We are truly touched by the level of support.
Turnout in South Northants was 75%, which is fantastic, and just goes to show how engaged everyone was with this election. The national result as I type is looking incredible for Labour, considering the snap election was designed to give Theresa May an enormous mandate.

“I am honoured to stand as parliamentary candidate for the Labour Party in this beautiful constituency where I live and work.
As I have demonstrated when campaigning to protect local healthcare services, I am passionate about ensuring that everyone in this constituency has access to the medical care they need.
Improving roads and public transport will also help connect people to a wider community, whether for work, education or simply to overcome loneliness and isolation.
We also need to ensure that South Northants enjoys the best possible outcome of Brexit negotiations. Local businesses rightly demand reassurance on key topics such as who they can hire and what will replace EU funding, and – beyond Brexit – that fundamental issues will be addressed such as digital and mobile connectivity.”

“Standing up for what you believe in can be daunting. Sophie does that regularly on behalf of people in the constituency. She lives here, knows the local issues and speaks out for change, showing how everyone can make a difference to their community where we work together.
Her passions for the NHS and Social Care are key for us all. I am very happy to endorse Sophie as the Labour candidate for South Northamptonshire”

- I pledge my commitment to protecting and growing your local health services and resolving the social care crisis.
- I pledge my commitment to creating strong public transport links and improving the condition of our roads.
- I pledge to support our farming community while doing all I can to protect the environment in South Northamptonshire.

- I pledge to fight the cuts to our education funding to overcome the financial struggles our schools face – for our children’s futures.
A vote for me is a vote for a candidate with a local focus and a constant local presence. I’ll be here, listening, wherever and whenever you need me.”
