Local results for the EU Referendum
Hello everyone,
I was elected by your local Labour party to lead our Labour team in observing the count.
I would personally like to thank Lucy, John, Maureen, Karen, Ralph and Sophie for all their hard work during both the campaign trail and during last night. I was moved by the genuine sense of community the local Labour party have during this referendum as we campaigned.
As someone that has never observed a count before it was incredible to see just how many people it took to do the vote counting and how thorough the process was.
The numbers:
56,664 votes were cast.
25,853 votes were cast for REMAIN.
30,771 votes were cast for LEAVE.
What happens next remains to be seen.
Please feel free to contact us with your own views about the referendum. 🙂
Let us know how you feel about this result and what you think this may mean for Britain.
To all those that took part in the counting I would like to thank you for your hard work as well and I hope everyone finds some time to rest after what can only be described as a long night.
Thank you for reading.
Michael Bailey,
Youth Officer
