South Northants Labour candidates produced a series of strong performances in the recent council elections.
Richard Solesbury-Timms came close to doubling the number of votes received by the party in Middleton Cheney from the last time the division was contested in 2013.
Elsewhere, our parliamentary candidate, Sophie Johnson, increased Labour’s share of the vote in Brackley to finish second, while Dave Tedford achieved the same position in Deanshanger.
Further, there were third places for Adrian Scandrett and Dan Lane in Silverstone and Towcester & Roade respectively, with the latter delivering a 4% rise in vote share.
Overall, Labour increased their representation on Northamptonshire County Council to 12 seats, mainly due to three stunning triumphs over the Liberal Democrats in Northampton. Given UKIP also lost all of their councillors, it means that we are now both the main and only opposition to the Tories.
