Britain is at a crossroads – and we need to act now. Immigrants and free movement are being scapegoated by a political and economic elite that is subjecting ordinary people to cuts and austerity.
If free movement with Europe is lost with Brexit, we face the biggest expansion in border controls in decades. It will be a victory for the narrative that immigrants are to blame for society’s problems, and it will be an attack on the rights, security and working conditions of millions of people. We need investment, stronger unions and social housing, not migrant-bashing.
How can we build a case for a humane and decent migration system, and for continued and extended free movement? Exactly one year on from the triggering of Article 50, join us to debate and discuss.
